Senior Correspondent: The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) called demonstration programme across the country for Sunday to protest the party being denied to hold rallies marking the 'Democracy Killing Day'.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office on Saturday.

BNP will hold rallies and demonstrations across the country as party's 'black-flag procession' was foiled on January 5 and they were barred to hold a pre-announced programme on January 7 (today), Rizvi said.

BNP observe January 5 as ‘democracy killing day’, the day when the tenth national parliamentary election was held in which they did not participate. This year, the party observed the by holding 'black-flag procession' and 'wearing black badge' programmes in districts and cities except the capital on Thursday.

BNP sought permission to hold the programme at city's Suhrawardy Udyan today as their party chief Khaleda Zia appeared before a Dhaka court on the day (Jan 5). However, the authorities did not permit them to hold the rally today, for which they announced the fresh demo programme for Sunday.
