BNP’s hunger strike ends before 3 hours

Senior Reporter: The six-hour long hunger strike of BNP demanding release of its chief Khaleda Zia has ended before three hours of the scheduled time.
Although the party announced to continue the programme until 4.00pm, they ended it up around 1.00pm following a request of police due to immense sufferings of the commuters, said BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain.
Earlier, BNP leaders and activists took position in front of the Jatiya Press Club since 10.00am demanding release of their party chief Khaleda Zia.
BNP leaders Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yusuf, Nitai Roy Chowdhury, ZM Jahid Hossain and others joined the programme amid tight security by police.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is currently in prison, after she was given a five-year imprisonment for misappropriating a Tk 2.10 crore donation fund of Zia Orphanage Trust.
