BRTC to buy 500 trucks, 100 buses

Staff Correspondent: Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) will buy 500 trucks and 100 buses under the Second Indian Line of Credit (LOC-2). For this, a deal was signed among BRTC, TATA and VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd.
BRTC Chairman Fariduddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Senior Manager of TATA Motors Vishal Sharma and Kashish Arora of VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides at BRTC Bhaban in the capital on Thursday.
The vehicles will be imported under the project of double-decker, single decker AC, Non-AC buses and Trucks collection of BRTC.
Under the project, BRTC will buy 600 trucks and 500 buses gradually.
Primarily, 100 Non-AC buses and 500 trucks will be imported. Each bus will cost Tk 32,53,687 while every truck Tk 13,02,312.
TATA Motors will supply all the buses. Meanwhile, of the 500 trucks, 350 will be provided by VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd while 150 will be supplied by TATA Motors.
Shafiq Ahmed, additional secretary of Road Transport and Highways Division, other top officials of Road Transports and Bridges Ministry, BRTC and delegations from Exim Bank of India were present during the agreement signing programme.
