Babu Sona strangulated to death after giving sleeping pills

Staff Correspondent, Rangpur: Lawyer Rathish Chandra Bhowmik alias Babu Sona was murdered on the night of March 29 according to the plan made two months ago. His wife’s extra marital affairs emerged behind the killing.

Benazir Ahmed, director general of elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), said in a press briefing in Rangpur on Wednesday noon.

He said, "Babu Sona was given 10 sleeping pills with rice and milk which made him unconscious. At that time his wife Dipa Bhowmik and her lover Kamrul strangulated him to death by a scarf and the body was kept on the bedroom on that night."

“Kamrul went out of the house around 5.00am the next day and came back with a rickshaw-van around 9.00am. They hide the body into an Alimirah in the name of changing it, then the body was taken to Tajhat Mollarpara area and buried it in an under construction building. Kamrul earlier hired three men to shift the Alimirah on the van,” he said.

Dipa confessed the murder to RAB members during interrogation on Tuesday night.

"Killers must face trial and the arrestees including Dipa will be interrogated in remand to get further information," he added.
