Ban on visitors’ entry to Dhaka airport

Secretariat Correspondent: The authorities at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka banned entry of visitors to the airport’s concourse hall area for next 12 days from today to thwart any subversive activities.

The decision was taken ahead of 136th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (CAAB) Public Relations Officer Rezaul Karim said the authority imposed the ban for the security of foreign delegation. As a result, no visitor will be allowed in the airport from Tuesday.

After the 136th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the ban will be lifted, he added.

Bangladesh will organize the 136th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in from 1 to 5 April in 2017.

Speakers, deputy speakers, parliament members from 131 countries and over 1,500 guests will attend the conference.
