Bangla Academy Sahitya Puroshkar announced

Staff Correspondent: “Bangla Academy Sahitya Puroshkar 2018” has been announced in four out of ten categories ahead of the Ekushey book fair.

Poet Habibullah Siraji, director general of Bangla Academy, announced the names of four personalities at a press conference at the academy's Munir Chowdhury auditorium on Monday.

The winners are Quazi Rosy (poetry), writer and researcher Mohit Kamal (Fiction), Syed Mohamamd Shahed (research), Afsan Chowdhury (literature on Liberation War).

This year, the academy could not consider anyone in the categories of translation work, juvenile literature, science, biography and travelogue, drama, technology and environment.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over the prestigious award among the winners at the inaugural ceremony of the Ekushey book fair on February 1.

Each of the awardees will receive an honorarium of Tk 2 lakh, a crest and a certificate.

Introduced in 1960, Bangla Academy Sahitya Puroshkar (Bangla Academy Literary Award) is given in recognition of creative genius in advancement and overall contribution in the field of Bengali language and literature.
