Bangladesh have good batting practice

Sport Desk: Bangladesh batsmen have excellent batting practices against Sri Lanka Cricket President's XI in a 2-day tour match in Moratuwa Thursday.

Bangladesh finished the first day scoring 391 runs for 7 wickets.

Opener Tamim Iqbal smashed century while Mominul Haque and Liton Das got fifties.

Tamim opened batting with Soumay Sarkar after SL BP XI won toss at De Zoysa Stadium and asked Bangladesh to bat first.

Sarker fell early for 9 but Tamim and Mominul Haque kept batting. They made a 143-run partnership in second wicket.

Mominul left the field scoring 73 to give others to have some batting. 

However, Tamim reached his century in the 46th over bowled by spinner Praveen Jayawickrama. The 27-year Bangladesh opener picked up 24 runs in the over with 3 sixes, a four and a couple.

He eventually was also retired out scoring 136 off 182 balls with 9 fours and 7 sixes. 

Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim scored 21 while Shakib Al Hasan 30.

Mahmudullah and Liton Das added 59 runs in the 6th wicket partnership. Mahmudullah scored 43.

Mehedi Hasan Miraz only added 1 run. However, Liton Das got fifty and was unbeaten on 57. Taijul Islam was also not out with him scoring 4.

Bangladesh will play 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 2 T20Is against Sri Lanka in the tour.

The first Test will be held from 7 March at Galle International Stadium. On 15 March, the second Test will commence at the P Sara Oval, Colombo, which incidentally will be the 100th for Tigers.
