‘Bangladesh is land of communal harmony’

Desk Report: Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has said Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony as the people of all faiths are living peacefully here.
“We have excellent relations among the people of different religions. They are practicing their respective religions peacefully,” she said.
The speaker came up with the statement while addressing at a function of “International Buddhist Peace Conference-2018” at Ashulia on the outskirts of the city on Friday.
Recalling the contribution of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in building a non-communal Bangladesh through its independent, Dr Shirin said, “The constitution of Bangladesh has guaranteed a non-communal country. We have to uphold the spirit of the constitution to build a happy and prosperous country.”
Lawmaker Dr Enamur Rahman, Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Dr Kanak Kanti Barua, Deputy Office Secretary of Awami League Barrister Biplob Barua, among others, addressed the conference. _BSS
