Staff Correspondent: Bangladesh has sought US$250 million from the World Bank (WB) with an aim to ensure health service for the Rohingya people who have entered Bangladesh to escape genocide in Myanmar's Rakhine state.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Jahid Malek came up with the information while speaking at a meeting titled "Bangladesh's preparation and World Bank's aid in facing disaster and famine" at the secretariat on Monday.
Jahid Malek said this time too, Bangladesh would be successful in the efforts to help Rohingya refugees like it gained success in facing different disasters in the past.
“We recently sent a letter to the global lender. We hope we will get the fund from the global lender,” the state minister said.
While speaking at the meeting, he highlighted different steps taken by the government as part of medical treatment programme for Rohingya refugees.
