‘Bangladesh seeks peaceful solution to Rohingya problem’

Law Minister Advocate Anisul Haque

Staff Correspondent: Law Minister Advocate Anisul Haque said Bangladesh hosts Rohingya refugees on humanitarian grounds as the country seeks peaceful solution to the Rohingya problem.

He also said that the foreign ministry is making its efforts to exert international pressure on Myanmar to resolve the problem.

The Minister made the statements while talking to media after inaugurating a training programme for the newly appointed assistant judges at Judicial Administration Training Institute in Dhaka on Sunday.

"Our country is densely populated one with 16 crore population. But we have hearts so that we are giving shelter to persecuted Rohingya people,” he said.

The Minister cited that diplomatic efforts are underway to reach a peaceful solution to the problem.

Replying to a query, Anisul said, “Rohingya people can go to international court for a peaceful solution if they want as we observed that the Rohingya people had gone to international court for justice after the Bosnian war. It’s up to their matter whether they will move for international court or not.”
