Bangladesh set 263-run target for Afghanistan

Sports Desk: Bangladesh, thanks to Mushfiqur Rahim’s brilliant innings of 83 runs, set a 263-run target for Afghanistan in Match 31, ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 at Southampton on Monday.

Wicket keeper-batsman Mushfiq dragged Bangladesh to 262 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs after Mujeeb ran through the middle order.

Mushfiq smashed 83 runs off 87 balls with 4 fours and a six.

Allrounder Shakib Al Hasan hit his 45th ODI half-century while fifth 50-plus score of the tournament. He scored 51 runs off 69 balls which includes a four.

Mahmudullah hammered 27 runs from 38 balls while Mosaddek Hossain 35runs off 24 balls.

Earlier, Tigers fell in trouble losing four wickets in just 151 runs by 32 overs.

Off Spinner Mujeeb sent back Soumya Sarkar for just 3 runs as he was trapped in LBW.

The spinner also removed Shakib trapping in LBW.

Tamim Iqbal was bowled by Afghan bowler Mohammad Nabi at the last ball of the 17th over. He scored 36 runs off 53 balls with 4 fours.

Earlier, Liton Das was removed in just 23 runs while batting first after losing the toss.

Liton Das was the man to get dismissed off  Mujeeb Ur Rahman. The right-handed batsman tried to clear Mujeeb through cover area. But is lofted drive found a fielder on the line who took a super low catch to remove Liton for 16 off 17.
