Bangladesh witness a glorious victory

Sports Desk: Tigers clinch historic 100th Test match beating Sri Lanka by four wickets to level Joy Bangla Cup series 1-1 in Colombo today.

It was also first ever victory against Sri Lanka for tigers.

Skipper Mushfiqur was unbeaten on 22 while Mehedi Hasan was not out on two after hitting the winning runs.

Tigers had plenty of nervy moments though, especially after Shakib Al Hasan was dismissed with 29 still required in the 191-run chase. Soon after, umpire S Ravi adjudged Mushfiqur Rahim lbw which was overturned on review. In the next over, Herath couldn't hold on to a return catch offered by a powerful Mosaddek Hossain drive.

Sensational batsman Tamim was unlucky to miss out on a century when he gave a catch to Dinesh Chandimal off a Dilruwan Perera delivery, the left-handed opener hitting seven fours and a six in his match-winning innings.

Tamim scored 82 facing 125 before being out and Sabbir Rahman scored 41 from 76 balls with five boundaries before being lbw. Both the batsmen were keeping the scoreboard moving by rotating the strike. They kept frustrating the hosts with their magical batting performance.

Earlier, Suranga Lakmal and Dilruwan Perera showed grit to defy Bangladesh bowlers as Sri Lanka set the Tigers a target of 191.

Shakib Al Hasan won man of the series for his outstanding performance in the two match Test series. Besides, Tamim Iqbal won man of the match title.
