Bangladeshi stabbed dead in Italy, 2 wounded

Nawabganj (Dhaka) Correspondent: A Bangladeshi youth has been stabbed to death and two others wounded by snatchers during a robbery.

The incident took place at Settembrini area near Central Station of Milan city in Italy around 2:45am on Thursday (local time) and early Friday (Bangladesh time).

Italian Police arrested two Morocco nationals for their suspected involvement in the incident.

The deceased was identified as Shamsul Haq Swapan, 31, son of Abdus Salam of Brahmankhali village under Baruakhali union parishad of Nawabganj upazila in Dhaka.

His body was kept at Niguarda Hospital. Neighbours of Swapan residing in Italy confirmed the death to his family.

The injured could not be identified immediately. They were also undergoing treatment at the hospital.

According to sources, Swapan lived in Milan for five years. He used to work in a restaurant. He was returning home with his two colleagues after night duty. They all worked in the same restaurant. Suddenly, hijackers attacked them. Swapan was stabbed at one stage of their conversation, leaving him critically injured.

He was taken to the hospital where duty doctors declared him dead, sources said.
