Bikers without helmets denied providing fuel

Staff Correspondent, Rangpur: Pump owners in Rangpur are refusing to sell fuel to the bikers who do not have helmets.
Many motorcyclists hailed from remote area fell in trouble to get petrol and octane as they did not have helmets in Rangpur town on Friday.
On the circumstance, some of the bikers bought helmets from nearby shops and then collected fuel from fueling stations while some of them returned without oil.
The incidents were noticed at different fueling stations in Rangpur city on Thursday and Friday.
Pump owners took a decision not to sell fuel to the bikers who do not have helmets after the district had requested them in this regard.
The scenario was seen at different fueling stations in the city including Unique pump at Shapla Chattar, Rahman pump adjacent to Shapla bridge, Abdullah Pump of Satmatha road, Salek pump at Station road and several pumps at Bangladesh Bank intersection and central bus terminal on Friday morning.
No bikers who did not have helmets was not provided fuel in the pumps.
Mostafa Sorwar, president of the district petrol pump owners, said that the district police requested us not sell fuel to the bikers who do not have helmets. We took the matter with seriously. Posters will be stuck across the city if it is necessary so that people do not fell victim to collect fuel.
Saifur Rahman, additional superintendent of police (ASP) in Rangpur, said a lot of motorbikes accidents are occurring not only on highways and roads but also on regional streets these days. Motorcyclists and their riders often suffer from serious damages as they do not wear helmets. The extent of damage will be less they bikers and riders wear helmets. So, we requested to pump owners not to sell fuel to the bikers who do not have helmets.
