Boney Kapoor's heartfelt letter on Sridevi

Entertainment Desk: The Indian film industry witnessed a great loss with the demise of legendary Sridevi. The country observed an emotional turmoil with the melancholic news and is still finding it hard to believe.

The actress who breathed her last on February 24, was cremated on Wednesday in Vile Parle amidst the Kapoor family and Bollywood celebrities. The last rites were performed by her husband Boney Kapoor alongside her two daughters Khushi and Janhvi.

In a heartfelt statement, Mr Kapoor expressed his gratitude to the fans of ‘his’ Sridevi for their immense love and support. He also thanked his children with former wife Mona Kapoor – Arjun and Anshula for being the ‘pillars of strength’.

He also made a sincere request for letting the family to grieve privately and to only discuss the memories that connect the audience with her. Right from the bottom the heart of an anxious father, he expressed that his primary concern right now is to take care of his daughters. He ended the letter with: “Our lives will never be the same again.”

Before cremation, Sridevi's mortal remains were kept in Celebration Sports Club for three hours as she wore a red kaanjeevaram and gold jewellery, wrapped in national tricolour.
Outside Celebration Sports Club, fans of Sridevi from across the country gathered with flowers and posters to bid a fond farewell. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Rekha, Vidya Balan, Shahid Kapoor and wife Mira Rajput, Hema Malini and her daughter Esha Deol, Sushmita Sen and Farah Khan apart from the Kapoor family gathered at the condolence meet as well.

Sridevi was in UAE to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah's wedding. Boney Kapoor was with Sridevi at the time of her death. Her daughters Janhvi and Khushi were in Mumbai. Janhvi couldn't attend Mohit Marwah's wedding as she was busy filming her debut project Dhadak in Mumbai. Produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Dhadak casts Shahid Kapoor's step-brother Ishaan Khatter opposite Janhvi.

Sridevi was last seen in Mom alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna. Her cameo appearance in Shah Rukh Khan's Zero will be her last film. She was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honour, in 2013.
