Bus kills 4 of a family among 5 in Ctg

Staff Correspondent: At least five people including four of a family were killed as a bus hit an auto-rickshaw carrying them from behind at Shah Amanat Shah Bridge area of the port city on Saturday midnight.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Sohle, 37, his wife Bilkis, 35, their two children Sharmin, 5, and Sabbir, 3, and the auto-rickshaw driver Suruj Mia, 55.

Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Karnaphuli Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said Sohel along with his family was returning home from Chittagong port city in the night. A bus hit the auto-rickshaw carrying them from behind while it stopped to pay the toll in front of Toll Plaza of Karnaphuli bridge, leaving four of the family members killed on the spot.

The injured auto-rickshaw driver succumbed on way to hospital, he added.
