Bus strike resumes on 15 routes of southern region

Staff Correspondent, Barisal: Bus strike has resumed on 15 routes of four districts of the country’s southern part from Barisal that ensued from the conflict of two bus owners' associations.

The bus movement was stopped on different routes of Jhalakathi, Pirojpur, Patuakhali and Barguna from Rupatoli bus terminal of Barisal city since Thursday morning.

Sultan Mahmud, general secretary of Barisal bus-mini bus, coach and micro-bus workers’ union, said bus movement was launched on the routes since June 13 on the occasion of Eid. But Jhalakathi bus owners association stopped the service stopped again just after nine days.

However, buses are running on the routes from Kalizira temporary bus stand, nearly 3 kilometers far away from Rupatoli bus stand. Passengers are sufferings for these three kilometers.
