Bus-train crash in Ctg: Probe committee formed

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: A probe committee has been formed after a bus and train collided in Baryarhat rail crossing area under Mirsarai upazila of the district.

Chittagong Railway Divisional Transport Officer Firoz Iftekhar made the disclosure after visiting the spot this morning.

However, the railway officials and locals blamed gateman in the rail crossing for his negligence of duty. 

Railway and local sources said that a Chattogram-bound Bijoy Express Train hit a Khagrachhari-bound bus of S Alam Paribahan bus, leaving two people dead and injured 20 more.

The top officials of railway department visited the spot around 10:30am and formed a four-member probe committee.

After the incident, gateman Mohammad Arif fled the scene, said railway officers.

The probe committee will submit their reports within one week, said Firoz Iftekhar.
