Staff Correspondent: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) K M Nurul Huda urged BNP leaders and activists to stay in the field until Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) voting ends.
However, BNP could not be assured with the urge of CEC.
BNP joint secretary general Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal told this to the reporters holding a meeting with CEC at Election Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon on Tuesday.
The BNP leader said we requested EC to withdraw Superintendent of Police (SP) in Gazipur from the very early of the city polls, like Khulna City Corporation polls. But EC did not pay heed to our request.
“21 agents of BNP candidate were forced to go out of the polling centres. DB police in jacket and cops in plain clothes forced them to move out. The agents were asked to gather in a room. Then, DB police told them ‘let’s move for talks.’ Many of the election camps of our candidate were also vandalised,” he alleged.
