Staff Correspondent: Police have arrested AKM Fahim Mashroor, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bangladesh’s largest job site bdjobs.com, for allegedly uploading a distorted photo of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with false and provocative information about her on Facebook.
Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested him from the 7th floor of Bangladesh Development Bank Limited (BDBL) Bhaban of the capital’s Karwan Bazar on Wednesday morning.
Nazmul Alam, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Cyber Crime Department of CTTC, confirmed the news.
A case was filed against him with Kafrul Police Station in Dhaka under Information and Technology ACT on April 22, he added.
According to the case statement, PM’s distorted photo along with provocative, false and insulting status and information was uploaded and shared it from Facebook account of Fahim Mashroor which deteriorated law and order situation and created anarchy and unstable situation in the country.
Eight charges were brought against him in the case filed by Al Sadik, former Mass Education Secretary of Dhaka University (DU) unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
It may be mentioned that Fahim Mashroor is the CEO of the e-commerce market place “ajkerdeal”.
He achieved the best entrepreneur award of 2018 arranged by the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Foundation.
He was also elected director of the newly committee of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS). Earlier, he was elected as president of BASIS.
