CIC freezes bank accounts of Shawon, Samrat

Central Intelligence Cell (CIC) of National Board of Revenue (NBR) sent letter to Bangladesh Bank to freeze bank accounts of Member of the Parliament Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shawon and Jubo League's Dhaka South president Ismail Hossain Samrat.

Wishing anonymity, a high official of NBR confirmed the matter on Tuesday.

Earlier, a ban was imposed on leaving country for 14 persons including Dhaka South unit Jubo League president Samrat.

On September 23, NBR sent separate letters to all banks to provide information on the accounts of Dhaka Metropolitan Juba League leader Khaled Mahmud Bhuyian, his wife, Golam Kibria Shamim for their alleged involvement in gambling rackets and casinos.

On September 20, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested G K Shamim with illegal fire arms from capital’s Gulshan.
