Capital city witnesses heavy rainfall

Staff Correspondent: The capital city witnessed heavy rainfall beginning around 11.00am on Monday under the influence of a light nor'wester.


According to the eye witnesses, heavy rain swept through the capital under influence of the nor'wester that inundated many of the major roads of the city. It created huge suffering to the city dwellers.

The capital city on Sunday witnessed the highest rainfall recorded 55 mm until 12 noon under the influence of a light nor'wester with wind speeding 63 kmh.

The highest wind velocity was 76 km per hour in the city, and the highest rainfall was recorded 69 mm in Mymensingh.

Besides, the BMD office issued a warning message predicting heavy to heavy rainfall with gusty or squally wind in 48 hours.

Under the influence of severe thunderstorm activity heavy to heavy rainfall with gusty or squally wind is likely to occur over regions of Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Jashore, Kushtia, Faridpur, Madaripur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Dhaka, Cumilla and Noakhali during the next 48 hrs commencing.
