3 cases filed over Paltan clash, 65 held

Staff Correspondent: TThree separate cases have been filed in connection with the clash between BNP men and police and torching police van in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan office.

Police filed the cases with Paltan Thana on Wednesday night, DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said. At least 30 persons have been identified showing the video footage, he said.

At least 65 persons have already been arrested in the three cases.

BNP men locked into a clash with cops at Nayapaltan in the city on Wednesday noon.

The clash began when law enforcers obstructed BNP men to gather on the road in front of the party office.

Agitated BNP men hurled brick chips at cops. They also set fire to several vehicles and vandalized some vehicles.

Some 23 policemen including five police officers and two Ansar men were injured in the clash.
