‘Cattle thief’ lynched in Ghatail

Staff Correspondent, Tangail: A man, suspected of being a cow thief, was beaten to death by a mob at Dewlabari Parchimpara village under Ghatail upazila early Monday.

The identity of the deceased could not be known yet.

Ghatail Thana OC Maksudul Alam said a gang of thieves went to the house of Shahidul Islam in the village around 3.00am. The farmer shouted for help after noticing the thieves.

Villagers rushed there and caught one of the thieves but others managed to escape. They beat the suspected thief to death.

Police said a case had been filed and they were investigating the matter.
