Charges framed against 14 juvenile accused in Rifat Murder

A Barguna court has framed charges against the 14 juvenile accused in the sensational Rifat Sharif murder case.

Judge Md Hafizur Rahman of the Barguna Children's Court framed the charges against them around 11:00am on Wednesday.

Earlier, 13 juvenile accused produced before the court in the morning. Besides, another juvenile accused Prince Mollah who is currently on bail also appeared before the court.

After framing charges, the 13 accused were sent to jail again.

On June 26, 2019, Rifat Sharif was hacked to death in broad daylight in front of Barguna Government College. A video clip of the incident went viral on social media that sparked outrages across the country.

Police on August 1, 2019 submitted two separate charge sheets to the court in connection with the case. One of the charge sheets accused 14 juveniles of the murder while another implicated 10 adults.

Earlier, the adult 10 accused including Rifat’s wife Ayesha Siddika Minni were indicted in the case.
