City fire leaves one dead

Staff Correspondent: A three-year old girl, who sustained burn injuries after an underground reservoir of a house exploded and caught fire in the city`s Pallabi area, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Ruhi.

Locals said that a water tank was opened to clean on Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, an blast occurred when the house caretaker lit a candle inside the water tank, leaving five people burn injured.

Later, the injured were sent to hospital where the kid died under treatment.

Confirming the matter, Partha Sangkar Paul, a resident surgeon of Dhaka Medical College Hospital burn unit said, 95 percent of Hasin Ara Begum, 41 percent of Yeasmin, 70 percent of Yakub Ali and 32 percent of Hasan burnt in the fire.
