City road crash kills one, bus torched

Staff Correspondent: Agitated people set a bus on fire after it rammed a motorbike, leaving a motorcyclist dead in the capital on Friday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Saiful Islam, 35, hailed from Pirojpur.

Ramna police station’s Office-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Mainul Islam said the 'Golden Line bus' was empty and going towards Malibagh 1:30pm. At first the bus hit a rickshaw later hit the victim's motorcycle leaving him critically injured.

He was taken to taken to nearby Hospital first, and then Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the duty doctors pronounced him dead.

Agitated locals caught the driver of the killer bus and handed him over to police after a good thrashing.

Saiful Islam used to work as a nurse at privately-run Dhaka Community Medical College and Hospital.
