Construction worker dies falling off building in city

Staff Correspondent: A construction worker died after falling from an 8-storey under-construction building in the city’s Dhanmondi area on Saturday noon.

The deceased was identified as Nazmul Islam, 17, son of Akkas Ali and hailed from Radhanagar village under Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur.

Sources said Nazmul fell down while working in the building near Eidgah Jame Masjid on Dhanmondi Road No 6 around 2:00pm and received serious injuries.

Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead around 3:45pm, it said.

Confirming the matter, sub-inspector (SI) Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, said his body has been kept at the hospital’s morgue.
