Convict in journalist Manik Saha murder case held

Staff Correspondent, Khulna: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has held a convict in the case of killing Manik Saha.

The convict is Billal Bepari who was given life imprisonment for killing Manik.

A team of RAB-6 held him around 10.30pm on Monday from Satkhira.

Posthumous Ekushey Padak winner Manik was also Khulna Press Club president and a BBC Bangla Service stringer when he was bombed to death near Khulna Press Club on January 15, 2004.

On November 30, 2016, Khulna Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal sentenced nine people, including Billal, to life imprisonment for the murder.

Manik also worked for the daily Sangbad and Ekushey Television and wrote a number of books during his journalism career.
