Country’s gas resource to be exhausted in 11 yrs

The gas fields in the country are now producing 2,570 million cubic feet of gas per day (mmcfd). But, the country’s gas resource to be exhausted in 11 year.

State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid made the disclosure while replying to a question of AL lawmaker Mohammad Ebadul Karim at the national parliament on Monday.

In reply to another question of BNP MP Golam Mohammad Siraj, he said, a total of 3,160mmcfd gas are being supplied now.

Gas also being provided to electric captive power industry, fertilizer factories through six gas distribution companies, he added.
