Ctg airport shut after hijack attempt

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: An armed man has attempted to hijack an aircraft of Bangladesh Biman Airlines at Hazrat Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram.
The hijack attempt made at around 6:00pm on Sunday.
Law enforcement agencies including police cordoned off the airport.
All activities of the airport have been declared shut after the incident.
Civil Aviation Secretary Mohibul Haque confirmed the news.
He said, “An armed man attempted to enter the cockpit of BG-147 of Bangladesh Biman just after it took off at Dhaka airport. But he could not enter.”
Sensing the matter, the pilot made emergency landing at Hazrat Shah Amanat Airport. Then, all passengers were evacuated rapidly.
It has been learnt that the armed man and two crews are remaining in the aircraft.
Commando Force are taking preparations to conduct a drive.
The flight was scheduled for Dubai via Hazrat Shah Amanat Aiport in Chattogram.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told risingbd that he heard about an attempt of aircraft hijack in Chattogram. The flight was made emergency landing. All passengers were brought out safely. All were unhurt.
He further said, “Law enforcers have cordoned off the aircraft. It was heard one was moving in the flight with pistol. I’m taking updates of the matter. However, nothing is to be feared.”
Jasim Uddin, deputy assistant director of Chattogram Fire Service, said, “10 units of Fire Service have taken position in the airport hearing the incident.
