DMP to take foolproof security for Amar Ekushey Book Fair

Staff Correspondent: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will take foolproof security to hold smoothly the month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair - 2018 starting from tomorrow (Friday).

DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah told newsmen on Thursday after paying visit to the Suhrawardy Udyan to see the overall security arrangements for the book fair.

“We have taken stringent security measures centering the Bangla Academy, Doyel Chattar, Shishu Academy, TSC and its adjoining areas likewise the previous years and the arrangement will continue till the fair ends,” Asaduzzaman Miah said.

“We are determined to provide security to all writers and publishers,” he said.
The venues of the book fair—Bangla Academy and Suhrawardy Udyan—have already been swiped by the dog squads and bomb disposal unit as part of the security arrangement, he also said.

“A large number of police will be deployed in and outside the book fair,” he said, adding that plain-clothed police personnel will guard the venues round the clock while the squads of SWAT, bomb disposal unit and dog squad will be present there as standby.
