Death of Abrar: Suprobhat bus conductor, helper remanded

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed conductor and helper of Suprobhat Paribahan bus that crushed Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) student Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury to death on seven-day remand.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasin Ahasn Chowdhury passed the remand order.

The remanded accused are conductor Yasin Arafat, 22, and helper Ibrahim Hossain, 21.

The court passed the order as investigation officer Qazi Shariful Islam produced the duo before court and pleaded to put them on ten-day remand.

Earlier the police arrested Arafat from Shahrasti, Chandpur, yesterday and acting on the information gathered in the primary interrogation, Ibharim was arrested from Middle Badda area in capital this morning.

On March 20, another court put driver Sirajul Islam, 24, to seven days remand.

Abrar was run over by Suprobhat Paribahan bus on the morning of March 19, as he was trying to cross the road. Abrar’s father Brigadier General (retd) Arif Ahammed Chowdhury filed a case against the driver, his helper, conductor and owner of the bus last night with Gulshan Police Station.
