Staff Correspondent: The final decision on quota will be made after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reaches home from abroad, according to the parliamentary body on public administration.
The parliamentary body held a meeting at the Parliament Complex to discuss the matter on Sunday.
HN Ashiqur Rahman, chief of the parliamentary watchdog, told reporters after emerging from the meeting that the parliamentary body thinks the reform to the quota system has to be done on logical ground so that it is acceptable to all.
"Though, our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced to abolish the quota system in government jobs, but we think the system should remain and a logical reform should be brought instead," he added.
Mentionable, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to reach home on Monday, ending her eight-day official visit to Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom (UK).
On April 11, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in the parliament, made an announcement to abolish the quota system amidst protests of university students and job-seekers across the country against the government’s reservation of quota in public services.
The prime minister, however, said a different arrangement will be made so that members of ethnic minorities and physically-challenged people can get government jobs.
