Deepika lands into legal trouble

Deepika Padukone is currently hard at work and gearing up for the release of one of the most important films of her career Chhapaak in which she essays the role of an acid attack survivor. The story of Chhapaak is based on the life of Laxmi Agarwal who survived an acid attack incidence back in 2005.

However, just six days before its release the film has now landed into a legal soup after a filmmaker filed a copyright violation case against the actress, the makers and the director of the film Meghna Gulzar at the Metropolitan Magistrate court.

As per reports, the complainant's name is Rakesh Bharti and he has claimed that the story of Chhapaak is based on a story that he wrote.

In his complaint, Rakesh mentioned that he along with his son had planned to produce a film based on the life of an acid attack survivor and that he registered the name of the film under 'Black Day' back in May 2015.

Rakesh, in his complaint, further stated that he had approached actresses like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kangana Ranaut and put forward the proposal for the film by sharing the copy of the script with Fox Star Studio, Ka Production, and Mriga Films, all three production houses who are involved with Chhapaak.

Chhapaak is all set to release on January 10, 2020. The film is set to clash with Ajay Devgn starrer magnum opus Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior at the box office in which he will essay the role of a Maratha warrior, Tanhaji Malusare. _DNA
