Staff Correspondent: The capital’s rail communications with the northern and southern districts of the country have resumed a day after its suspension as flood water damaged a rail bridge in Kalihati of Tangail.
Additional director general (operation) of Bangladesh Railway Mohammad Habibur Rahman confirmed the matter to risingbd.com.
He said that Rajshahi-bound Silk City express left Kamalapur railway station around 4:15pm. The railway communication in the route has been restored after 36 hours of disruption.
Earlier, a demo train was sent to cross the repaired rail train bridge experimentally, he added.
On Sunday, the authorities came to know about the damaged bridge after Dhaka-bound Sundarban Express crossed the area. The bridge went out of order as a 20-feet soil platform under the rail bridge collapsed due to floodwater.
Later, around 300 labourers had started working to repair the damaged bridge.
