Driver of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan placed on 7 day-remand

Staff Correspondent: A court here on Wednesday granted a seven-day remand for one of the drivers of ‘Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan’ bus, who is an accused in killing two college students in a road accident on Airport Road on July 29 in the capital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate HM Toaha passed the order when DB police inspector Kazi Shariful Islam, also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court seeking a seven-day remand.
Kazi Shariful Islam added that police arrested the accused driver, Masum Billa from Barguna district sadar on Tuesday afternoon.
The development came one day after the Dhaka court sent four people-- bus drivers Sohagh Ali and Mohammad Zubayer, and two helpers – Enayet Hossain and Mohammad Ripon to jail over the killing.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate HM Toaha passed the order when Riyad Ahmed, sub-inspector of Cantonment Police Station and also the investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court seeking a 10-day remand prayer.

Earlier on Sunday (July 29), two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin School and College -- Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib -- were killed as a Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan bus ploughed through some students in front of Kurmitola General Hospital at Airport Road.
A case was filed with Cantonment Police Station on Sunday night over the incident and members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two drivers and two helpers of three buses from different parts of the capital on Monday.
