Drug adulteration: Take stern actions against culprits

It is very much difficult to find out uncontaminated commodities in the country. Almost all products have been fallen in prey of Adulteration.  People now are suffering from many of chronic diseases after having contaminated foods.

Now it has become a matter of deep concern that drugs are also being adulterated. The things are taken to cure the diseases, to make this adulterated means to push people to hug deaths.  This is obviously an extreme anarchy.

Apart from adulteration, many of the companies are also producing sub-standard medicines which cause immense sufferings and insecurity for the country's people. They are doing this only for much benefit.

Many of the drug companies in the country are reported to make medicines without following the rules and regulations of World Health Organisation (WTO).

Besides, a lot of unapproved drugs are being imported from different countries illegally. The adulterated and sub-standard medicines sometimes become causes of death. Actually, productions and marketing of the fake and sub-standard drugs are not being stopped because of evil activities of an unscrupulous racket and dishonest traders.

It is needed to take stern actions against the companies which are involved in producing the fake and sub-standard medicines.

It is reported, though many companies are continuously supplying sub-standard drugs in the market, ensuring effective actions against them have not yet been possible.  Some companies are also producing medicines and supplying in the market violating the directions imposed by the authority.

The issue went to the court when the government had put 34 companies in a blacklist to stop fake and adulterated drugs.

A ray of hope emerged after the apex court ordered 20 companies to stop producing all kinds of medicines as they failed to ensure standard.

The court also ordered other 14 companies to stop producing antibiotics.

There is a hope that the steps will help ensuring discipline in the sector.

Now the authority should be alert to carry out the court order. For this authority has to more attentive in observation and checking the standard regularly complying with the court order.

Bangladeshi medicines are now boosting in the international market. If the authority fails to ensure standard of the medicines, bad effects must grip the throat of the sector and the country's economy will face bad impacts.

We hope the authority will monitor secretly to ensure the standard of the drugs so that the alleged companies could not produce and adulterate its medicines.
