Drug peddler killed in Mymensingh 'gunfight'

Staff Correspondent, Mymensingh: A drug peddler was killed in a 'gunfight' with police in Maskanda Gonsharmore area of Charpara in the district early Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Biplob.

District Detective Branch (DB) police officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Ashiqur Rahman said acting on a tip-off, detectives conducted a drive in the area around 2:00am on Sunday. Meanwhile, sensing presence of police, the drug peddlers opened fire aiming the law enforcer which triggered the gunfight. At one stage, Biplob received a bullet and other drug dealers managed to flee from the spot.

Later, police recovered Biplob and sent him to Mymensigh Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

200 grams of heroin, 200 pieces of Yaba, three bullet shells and two knifes were seized from the spot.
