Drug ringleader killed in Jessore

Staff Correspondent, Jessore: A ringleader of an organised drug trading gang was killed in Benapole area of the district following a conflict between two groups.

The deceased was identified as Selim Hosain, 40, son of Abu Taher of Bhoberber village in Benapole area.

Apurbo Hasan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Benapole Port Police Station, said two drug trading groups locked into a conflict in Benapole area on Monday night over dividing money.

At one stage, shooting between the two groups erupted, leaving drug ringleader Selim killed.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Later, the body was sent to Jessore 250-bed General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

A pistol and two rounds of bullets were also recovered from the spot, the OC added.

Selim, locally known as drug emperor, is an accused in 16 cases.
