Drug trader Alamgir killed in N'ganj 'gunfight'

Staff Correspondent, Narayanganj: A drug peddler named Alamgir was killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj District early Tuesday.

Two RAB personnel were received injury. They are- RAB Habildar Habibur Rahman and constable Mizan Talukdar.

Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of RAB-11 Sheikh Billal Hossain said, “Acting on a tip-off, a team RAB conducted a drive to Chengakandi area of Sonargaon to capture the drug peddlers. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the drug peddlers opened fire on them, prompting retaliation that triggered a gunfight.”

Meanwhile, Alamgir was killed on the spot and two RAB personnel received injury.

A pistol, two rounds of bullet and 1500 pieces of Yaba pills were seized from the spot.

Alamgir was wanted in 19 cases filed over the drug-related allegations.
