Drug trader killed in Kushtia gunfight

Kushtia Correspondent: A suspected drug trader was killed a gunfight between two gangs of drug traders in Chechuabil area under Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Emdad Khandakar, 38, son of Kata Khandakar alias Rafi, hailed from Ranzitpur village.

Kumarkhali police station officer-in-charge (OC) AKM Mizanur Rahman said a team of police conducted a drive after coming to know that two groups of drug traders were exchanging gunfire in the area around 3:30am. When the police team reached there, the drug traders opened fire on them, forcing the cops to retaliate.

At one stage, the drug traders fled the scene and the policemen recovered bullet-injured Emdad. Later, he was sent to Kushtia General Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.

A pistol, three bullets and 100 pieces of yaba pills were recovered from the spot.
