Duration of Ekushe Book Fair extended

Staff Correspondent: The government has extended the duration of this year's Ekushe Book Fair by two days.

The fair will run till 2 March 8:30pm, Book Fair committee member secretary Jalal Ahmed confirmed the matter to risingbd.com on Thursday.

Faisal Hasan, senior information officer of Cultural Affair Ministry, said that following the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the decision was taken in response to the request of the writer and publishers.

The book writers and publishers face sufferings due to inclement weather this year. As a result, the writers and publishers put the demand.

Earlier, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the monthly-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair on February 1. The authority allotted a total of 150 units at the Bangla Academy ground to 104 organisatons and 620 units at the Suhrawardy Udyan to 395 organisations.
