E-TIN holders exceed 31 lakh

Economic Correspondent: The number of e-TIN holders has exceeded 31 lakh in the country, according to the statistics of the National Board of Revenue (NBR).

A total of 31,02,482 people got registered with the electronic tax identification number (e-TIN) till now, which the NBR describes as a success towards its revenue collection efforts.

Confirming the matter, Kalipada Halder, an NBR member for information management and services told risingbd.com, "We are happy over the information. Hoping the number will exceed 35 lakh within next June month."

The NBR launched a portal in 2013 to help taxpayers obtain their TIN online. The portal is linked to the National Identity Card database to verify individual applicant.
