EC directs to remove pre-poll campaign materials

Staff Correspondent: The Election Commission (EC) has given instruction to the authority concerned to remove all campaign materials ahead of the upcoming by-polls in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).

A letter in this regard signed by EC deputy secretary Md Atiyar Rahman was sent to concerned authorities on Monday night. The direction was given to remove those by January 31.

Besides, direction was also given to the commissioners of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Local Government Division (LGD) and different government institutions to take necessary steps in this regard. 

Election to councillor posts in the 36 new wards -- 18 under the DNCC and 18 under the Dhaka South City Corporation -- will be held on February 28.

According to the polls schedule, the last date for filing nomination papers for both in the DNCC by-polls and election to the new wards is January 30.
