EC issues directives to control Rohingyas movement

Staff Correspondent: The Election Commission (EC) has issued directives to control movement of Rohingya people centering the forthcoming 11th general election.

A letter in this regard signed by deputy secretary of Election Management and Co-ordination Division Atiar Rahman was issued on Friday.

According to the directives, Rohingyas cannot move out of the camps they reside in from 7:00pm on December 29 till 8:00pm on December 31 for the sake of the 11th parliamentary election.

No NGO activist or volunteer will be allowed to enter the Rohingya camps during the period, the letter said.

However, the activities of food, reliefs and emergency health services will remain out of preview of the imposition, according to the letter.

The letter was sent to the authorities concerned to take effective steps accordingly.
