EU expert team to visit Dhaka

Diplomatic Correspondent: A two-member team of European Union (EU) is scheduled to visit Dhaka on Tuesday to observe overall situation ahead of the national election in Bangladesh.
Diplomatic sources said that the delegation will meet Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda and Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain.
The EU team is also scheduled to meet Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwari, foreign ministry officials and senior politicians.
Though EU will not send any observer team in the upcoming election but, the EU team will submit their report to its headquarters in Brussels.
A top officials of the government said, the EU tour is highly important as the report of the team will play a vital role on the future relation between EU and Bangladesh.
On the other hand, several international organizations have shown interest to send their observers in the next national elections.
Earlier, a total of 593 foreign observers took part in ninth national election in 2008 while the number was very minimal in 2014.
