Eight burnt in Khulna gas cylinder blast

Staff Correspondent, Khulna: At least eight people including three Fire Service workers have been burnt in gas cylinder explosion in Khulna city.

The incident took place at kitchen of Roaster King Fast Food of the city’s Ahsan Ahmed Road area on Friday noon.

Of the victims, five were known as Al-Amin, owner of Roaster King Fast Food, Fire Service workers Mamun, Farid and Mejbah, chicken supplier of the fast food shop Abu Taher.

The other three victims could not be known immediately.

M M Mizanur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulna Sadar Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said, “A gas cylinder exploded at noon, spreading the fire at different places in the kitchen. Being informed, Fire Service workers rushed to the spot. But the eight people sustained burn injuries during the efforts to douse the fire. All the victims were admitted to Khulna Medical College and Hospital.

Rabiul Islam, Operator of Khulna Fire Service Control Room, said Fireman Farid of the victims was in critical condition.
