Ekushey Padak winner Jharna Dhara Chy dies

Noakhali Correspondent: Ekushey Padak winner also famous Gandhian activist Jharna Dhara Chowdhury has died at the age of 80.
She died while undergoing treatment in capital’s Square Hospital at 6:40am on Thursday.
Jharna Dhara worked as secretary of the Gandhi Ashram Trust at Joyag village in Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali.
Raha Naba Kumar, director of the Trust said, she was suffering from high blood pressure, diabetics and other old age complications.
Jharna Dhara was born in October 15, 1938 at Ramganj upazila of Lakshmipur district. She devoted her whole life to promoting peace, communal harmony and social justice, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's non-violent creed.
She received ‘Padma Shri’, one of India's highest civilian awards in 2013. Jharna Dhara also got Ekushey Padak in 2015.
