Emergency meeting on mosquito problem at airport

Staff Correspondent: The airport authority called an emergency meeting as mosquito problems increased significantly at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Following the issue, airport authority discussed with Brigadier Genenral Md Zakir Hasan, chief health officer of Dhaka North City Corporation. Later, the emergency meeting was called. The meeting is scheduled to hold around 11:00am on Monday.

It has been learnt that flock of mosquitoes enter into aircrafts through aircraft door which creates serious troubles. The mosquito problem is more in boarding bridge, apron area and adjacent areas of the airport.

Earlier on Thursday night, a flight of Malaysian Airline was delayed by more than two hours due to a disturbing situation caused by mosquitoes at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

Kazi Iqbal Karim, Air Commodore Group Captain of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport said, "We have decided to sit a meeting with Dhaka North City Corporation and health division to bring the situation under control. The mosquito problem lies not only in airport area but also everywhere."
